Trips so far - AMERICA- Viva Las Vegas Baby!!

Las Vegas

sunny 20 °C

April 28th, 2010

Woooooo! Today we were leaving for Vegas. I was hoping it would be everything like it is in the movies. The bright lights, the long strip, the welcome to Vegas sign....ahhhh I couldn't wait!!!

As I got ready and packed our final bags, Daniel went out to pick up our Hired Dodge Challenger. I'm not that into cars, but when I saw this car, woooaaahhh!!! it was sexy! It was red, two door and so comfortable inside. We were going to look bad ass driving this for the next 4 hours.

I loved the drive there. One minute it was suburbia California, the next, it changed to sandy, 'the hills have eyes' type of landscape... I loved it!!! For me, this felt like the ultimate America. We made a stop about 2 hours into the trip to get a feed at Arby's. I love the food in America. it taste great, always in large servings and they give you free top ups of your soda, hahaha, but I never said it was a good thing ;P

After lunch, we continued on, and this time I had a go at the wheel. Driving on the other side of the road was a first for me and I was a bit nervous, but I soon got the hang of it and felt like I'd done it for years! Just before we reached Vegas, we stopped at a gas station to refuel. With a few more extra supplies in tow, Daniel, took to the driver's seat again and off we went.

Coming up the hill, just before you hit Las Vegas is amazing. As you drive ahead, you start to see buildings and structures you recognise from the movies- Circus Circus,Treasure Island, The Bellagio, The Venetian, Caesars Palace, The MGM hotel, The Luxor....they're all there! and the Mirage, which is where we were staying. We picked the Mirage because it was one of the most central hotels and it was also in our price range.

As we pulled into the Mirage, the bell boy was on stand, waiting to help us with our luggage. We walked inside and were given the keys to our room. We had a great view of the famous Vegas strip and once we unpacked, it was time to get drunk!!

We were drunk by mid afternoon. In the words of Hunter S.Thompson "You'd better take care of me, Lord...because if you don't you're going to have me on your hands." And we were well taken care of. My God, we drank some. We gambled a little and drank some more. This is a city that the unfocused could lose their heads in . . .God Damn! and it felt GREAT! Daniel won afew times, not big winnings, but enough so that our drinks were paid for.

The second day, we caught a cab out to one of the outlet stores. This place is huge and has alot of well known brands such as Calvin Klein, Adidas, Nine west and more. We bought alot of clothing here and how we mamaged to fit it all in our luggage bags is still a mystery to me.

We didn't have time to see any shows or do any tours, but two nights in this place was enough of a hook to make us decide to come back at a later date! We aim to come here for my 30th Birthday. Hopefully that 30th comes around sooner than later lol.

The next day, we boarded our virgin flight over to New York City..... The big Apple.
